Perhaps you’ve reached the point where the sight of your lover, boyfriend, girlfriend, husband or life partner irritates you? For no reason, (not anything you can put your finger on) you’re just irritated and find yourself wanting to slap the hell out of your honey? Don’t worry, don’t stress. It’s common. There are things you can do to avoid hitting that brick wall and getting you and your ‘Amour” all lovey dovey again.
Try spending some time apart, perhaps a long weekend with your buddies or favorite gal pals. Laugh a little, pamper yourself some, go fishing…. whatever, just come back refreshed. Distance makes the heart grow fonder and one often comes back with a new perspective.
Reinfuse some humor and romance into the relationship. Create a “date night”. Try new things outside of the conventional movies, dinner syndrome. Play pool, go bowling, try hang gliding, the point here is that you’re engaged in new things together. Explore your weird sides together: don’t be shy.
Couples therapy, if you’re finding that your tune-up is more intricate and serious than the addition of date night and taking some time apart then perhaps consider couples therapy. Make sure that the therapist is qualified to offer couples counseling and has had direct experience working with couples in distress.
